The hair transplant industry is booming in the United States, with the number of transplants reported to be rising by roughly 10% annually.
According to the United Parcel Service, there are now approximately 2.2 million transplants performed each year, up from 1.8 million in 2016.
According in part to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, transplants are considered successful if the recipient’s hair grows back to its original size within two years of transplantation.
While transplants can be performed by the surgeon and a team of volunteers, the process of hair transplant can be difficult, and often requires the patient to wear special protective clothing, such as a wig or makeup.
