In an effort to curb a rise in transplants, the city has announced a new initiative to encourage people to get hair transplants.
The new program will offer people a free haircut and a wig as part of a program called HairGrow, a partnership between Toronto Hair and Hair Institute, the Toronto Hair Society and The Hair Institute.
The program will be running through the end of March, said a news release from the city.
HairGrowth will provide $500 for a $50 hair transplant and will be available to people aged 16 and over, or 18 and over if they qualify.
Those eligible will get a haircut and get a wig for free.
The city has also set up a “hair and hair care” hotline for people to report suspicious hair loss or other hair issues.
Hairgrow participants will also be able to receive a “survey” of their hair loss from the Toronto Society for Hair and the Hair Institute’s website, HairGrows, to assess their hair and other health issues.
The survey is voluntary and is not required.
The HairGrown Hair Foundation will provide the funding for the program.
