A few months ago, a local transplant clinic in Ohio began offering hair transplants.
Now, the state of Ohio is giving hair transplant patients the option of receiving a facial hair transplant as well.
The new policy goes into effect on January 1, and it will help the roughly 1,000 patients who have already been approved to have their facial hair transplied.
“The procedure is the same as any other hair transplant,” said Dr. James J. Smith, president of the Ohio Department of Health and Human Services.
“They’re basically taking a little piece of hair from the scalp and growing it into the new facial hair.”
The new procedure will be administered through a plastic tube and taken to a local plastic surgeon.
The procedure will cost $2,500.
Hair transplant surgery will cost around $20,000.
The state has not announced a timeline for when patients can expect to receive their facial hairs.
The surgery will be performed at the Cincinnati-area Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Center.
Patients who want to get their facial transplants can sign up at the state’s website or by calling the Cincinnati Health Transplant Center.
